How It Began
What follows is the unfiltered version: two messages, one ignored, a first date that almost didn’t happen, and everything since. This is our story.
Two messages · Seven years · Two proposals · One temporarily lost ring
The Beginning
It started in Amsterdam, with Klaudio sending Derick a message online. Derick did not respond. So Klaudio sent another one. That persistence paid off. Klaudio was funny, charming, and interesting enough to make Derick curious.
Klaudio, meanwhile, thought Derick was handsome, charismatic, and possibly a catfish because nobody should be that good-looking and that funny at the same time. Their first date was at George Marina. When Derick saw Klaudio approaching, his first thought was, “Oh no, he is way too young.” Still, he was already there. He might as well have a drink. One drink became dinner, dinner became another restaurant, and the evening only ended because Klaudio had to catch the last metro home.
Somewhere between the conversations about family, religion, and their strangely similar upbringings, Klaudio realised Derick could see through him in a way that felt surprising, slightly uncomfortable, and very safe.
Klaudio thought this could become serious. Derick thought it could at least become fun. Klaudio was right.
The Proposal
Years later, at the Airbnb on Aruba, Klaudio started acting suspiciously right before leaving for the beach. He was rummaging through the luggage, clearly hiding something. Derick thought he was looking for lube and briefly wondered whether Klaudio had planned something ambitious at the beach. He had not. He was looking for the ring. Klaudio proposed on the beach, Derick said yes, and everything ended exactly as planned. Mostly.
Later, Klaudio lost his ring while vacationing in Mexico. Instead of simply replacing it, Derick secretly bought a new one and waited until Klaudio’s birthday. Klaudio thought he was only getting a party. Instead, he got another ring and a proposal of his own.
Now they had both asked. And both had said yes.
The Next Chapter
Since that first date, Derick and Klaudio have travelled, moved in together, supported each other through life’s harder moments, and learned how to build a life as a team.
Klaudio is the easygoing, social one. Derick is also social, as long as he already knows everyone. They both enjoy the finer things in life and agree that camping is not one of them. Their love is found in the big moments, but also in the ordinary ones. In shared jokes, TikTok videos, and the pre-workout shake and snack Derick makes for Klaudio every morning, also known as Order 212.
They are most excited to celebrate this chapter with the people they love, bringing their families and friends together for a few unforgettable days. Everyone invited has been chosen with care.
Marriage feels like the natural next chapter of the life they have already created.
And so, the next chapter begins.
